Family Reunion
The more homesick a person becomes the sweeter the plans for reuniting with family. I'm not homesick for a place, but for my people. I haven't seen Mom in months, and for many other family members it's been years. Our calendar is filled with dates scratched off for family reunions this year. Some are formal reunions with extended family; others are more intimate gatherings for just a few. Each event will be special in its own way.
Road Trip
After a recent 1500 mile road trip with my family I was never happier to return to our home and spread out! Traveling in our mini-van for 25+ hours taught me a few valuable lessons.

Dance, Dance, Dance
My children are very musical. From very early in life, both enjoyed singing “their” song as I put them to bed. This habit led to numerous CD purchases and now as they grow older—musical instruments and toy microphones. However, what I didn’t expect is to see how quickly they began to dance.
How Can I Help You?
Recently my three-year-old was playing restaurant with my six-year-old. They were taking turns serving each other, using a play tea set tray and odds and end pieces of plastic pots and pans gathered from various other play sets. It was quite entertaining to hear them asking each other questions they frequently hear from wait staff.
Come and Get It!
When I was growing up my mom bolted an old iron bell to the backside of the house. When it was time for dinner, chores, or some other event that she needed us home for, I heard that bell from anywhere in the neighborhood and knew I had about five minutes to get myself home. I raced from the neighbor’s house where I was playing and arrived back home out of breath, panting, waiting to see what Mom needed.
