What Manner of Woman are you?
By Brenda Jackson
Manner – means a habit, custom; to be accustomed to doing something; a way of life; or manner of life! What is your Manner of life? What is your Manner of thought? Are you made up of God’s love, power and his word? Has your Manner been customized by God?
How Can I Help You?
Recently my three-year-old was playing restaurant with my six-year-old. They were taking turns serving each other, using a play tea set tray and odds and end pieces of plastic pots and pans gathered from various other play sets. It was quite entertaining to hear them asking each other questions they frequently hear from wait staff.

“What I'm concerned about, Dr. Towns, is swine flu.” This is not a surprising statement. With the hysteria in the media, school closings, face masks, deaths, it's perfectly understandable for parents to be questioning our pediatricians, right? But the above question was not asked by me, the parent. It was the response of my 1st grader—my just turned 7 years old—to her doctor's final question to me: “Do you have any other concerns today?” To his credit, he turned to her and very seriously asked her why she was concerned and then did a quick rundown of proactive things she can do to protect herself. God bless him. That's why I love him as a doctor. He respects me as the mother and doesn't talk down to my children. Now all of that was not to complain about my week—although I will comment, not complain mind you, that my two year old has a raging ear infection and my four year old had four shots yesterday.
Opening My Big Mouth
Does your mouth need a leash? I know mine does. I'm getting better at watching what I say and speaking only of those things that lift people up. But there is more to taming my tongue than just saying good things. It’s also knowing the right time to say them.

Part 1
I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 I was thinking about the goodness of God one day and just thanking Him for bringing me through the health issues that arose during my last pregnancy and how I was delivered of them right after my son was born this year. I then began to recall some of His promises and thinking about how some of them have come to pass and some have not. Did I miss something? Had I not fasted enough? Prayed enough? Interceded enough? I know that it is never God. God never misses it. I know that He is filled with integrity. He watches over His Word to perform it and exalts His Word even above His name. I have learned that I can put my complete trust in His Word.
