Keeping the Faith

It seems everyone is being affected one way or another with our current economy. Since January, I have met many people who are sharing an apartment or allowing families to live in their basement. In March, I discovered several of my friends are losing their jobs because there is not enough money to pay everyone. Also, the food co- op has been at a slow pace, and people are staying closer to home for vacation. With everything that has been going on with the economy, how does one keep the faith?

Have you ever had one of those days, when you come home from work, kick off your shoes and you’re so tired that you lack the fortitude or ability to even lean across the couch to turn on the Television. So, you sit there just staring at the wall in front of you. It’s like you’re in an absent minded trance, hoping you can gather your thoughts and strength to get up and start supper or at least pour yourself a cup of coffee.

Finding the Truth

As stated in the Bible, Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” Recently, I overheard a conversation my minister was saying about a young man who had gone off to college to find his path. This young man decided to take a religious course. I wasn’t sure exactly what particular course this was, but I assumed it was based on world religions. Regardless, the professor insisted Jesus was not the way to eternal life. Basically, the professor said Jesus was a joke or some faker! If Jesus is so great, then how come our life is so messed up? Why do we not get what we want, when we want it?
