My friend Cindy Cashman is releasing the 20th anniversary issue of “Everything Men Know About Women” (written under the pseudonym Dr. Alan Francis). Now this is a great story – 20 years ago she released this “book” to rave reviews. I must warn you that it is 128 blank pages – thus the title. She sold over 1 million copies herself. Remember when God spoke to Moses at the burning bush? God told Moses he wanted him to go back to Egypt and lead the people out to the Promised Land. Moses looked and said – “You’ve got to be kidding – I’m not the person for a job like that.” God assured Moses he would prepare the way and he would provide some pretty convincing miracles. Still Moses had a hard time believing he was up to the task. He pleaded – “I can’t speak well, I don’t have a college degree, I’m a convicted felon – please, send anyone else!”

Once, my professor came into class with a cup of coffee. He told us that he had given up coffee many years ago and that we wouldn’t believe the number of times that he had said no to a cup. That interaction gave me a completely new understanding of resolutions.
It is a common thought that resolutions are to either get something into your life that is currently missing or get something out that shouldn’t be there in the first place. This philosophy taught me that it’s not about the resolution, but the relationship.
