How does someone who’s been late and unprepared all of their lives repent into a lifestyle of organization and preparedness? How does the quick-tempered wife and mother repent into a lifestyle of gentleness and patience with her husband and children? How does the drug addict repent into a life of drug free living? Reverence for God

I think of how most of us view God or approach him in today’s day and age.  I’ve seen t-shirts that say “Jesus is my homeboy”, WWJD bumper stickers and fish decals on the back of cars.  This stuff is all neat, and I’m sure it makes a few bucks for whoever is selling it.  But is this who our God really is?  Is our Lord and creator of the universe really something to stamp on a lunchbox and sell alongside Hannah Montana? How do we prepare ourselves to not only be free from those things in us that would try to hold us from our destiny, but to stay free from those things outside of us? Or, at the very least, get prepared for when life just happens?

I had a question this morning that was bothering me, why do people who have seen so much of God’s power and majesty fall back into the World?

I was thinking of Israel – they saw God’s mighty hand so many times.  When Moses was up on Mount Sinai, they could even see Him on there, but when Moses was up there for a while, they built the two golden calves and started to worship them.
