Looking Ahead to that Good Inheritance
My 87-year-old mother lives with me, and I have to give her credit today for this devotional. She was doing her own Bible study yesterday morning and shared with me that it was based on the verse below from the Psalms and how that verse was taking her back in her memory to various points in her life. When my grandmother was eight her mother died and her father was unable to care for her, she was sent to live with her grandparents. At the time—and for many years thereafter—she thought she was one of the most misfortunate people on the face of the earth. All she could think of was all she had lost and how she didn’t have a “real family” like most of her friends did.

The house is a disaster. I’m sitting in my pajamas and it’s 2:30 in the afternoon. My kids have had an assortment of food that constitutes anything but a healthy, balanced diet today and to top it all off, I ate ice cream for breakfast. Pretty sad look into the life of someone who usually has it reasonably together!

I was watching some two year olds in nursery one time at church. One of the little boys was fascinated with some toy cars. His hands were so full of toys, but there was a better toy car sitting on the floor. The little boy wanted that car so badly, but he could not grasp it. As much as he tried to grab the little car with his fingers, he couldn’t. His hands were too full. Why doesn’t he just put the other toys down?
