Artist Spotlight: Micah Stampley

Micah Stampley has done it again. Just last month he released his third live CD, Ransomed, which debuted to rave reviews from all who enjoy Christian gospel music. But that shouldn’t be a surprise to those who have been following Micah since his record setting first album.

Micah’s first record charted the second highest debut in Billboard history in the male gospel artist department, putting him ahead of many greats from the past. He quickly became involved in music from early childhood. At age 4, Micah joined his church choir. Fast forward to 2004 when Stampley won the Stellar Award Gospel Star Search competition and his career had begun.

Ransomed was recorded live at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church with over 2,000 in attendance to provide the album with power. 16 tracks of gospel songs filled with soul. It is easy to take for granted the talent that someone like Micah has, and you will hear why.

Inspiration for making all of his music comes from his love for his savior, Jesus Christ. “Many times people think they can’t come to church because they don’t have it all together, but God is a loving, caring, merciful God.” He fills each and every one of his songs with this inspiration and doesn’t disappoint.

Micah has been featured on BET, Ebony Magazine, UpScale Magazine and performed at many sold out concerts. Outside of music he is also a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Named a “Gospel Genius” by AOL in 2005, Micah Stampley continues to impress with his live albums, and Ransomed isn’t anything but another step forward. The title track is one surely recommended, as it will lift your mood and brighten your day.
