A novel by MaryLu Tyndall

The sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean, the thrill of adventure on the high seas, and the romance of two souls torn between love and revenge. . . in M. L. Tyndall’s The Redemption, we get pirate fever with a Christian twist, and the result is a novel that keeps the pages turning and the anticipation high.

I was buying things online a couple of months ago and saw a special price on a movie that looked interesting.  My family jokes that I'll buy anything that's marked down (although there is no truth to the rumor that I once bought an escalator).  I did not pass up the bargain and the movie was ordered, arrived, and sat around my house for a month.  One Sunday afternoon I finally got around to watching it.  A déjà vu feeling hit me immediately.  Could I have seen this flick already?   I shrugged it off and continued watching.  Suddenly a scene came on that I distinctly remembered.  Darn.  I had bought a movie I'd already seen.  By this time I was into it, so I continued watching and enjoying.

This movie is based upon a novel by Francine Rivers, a prolific Christian author. It was directed by Michael Landon Jr., best known as the "son of Michael Landon" – that is, Pa in Little House on the Prairie. He has established himself in his own right as a successful director with four movies released through Hallmark based upon novels by Janette Oake (Love Comes Softly, Loves Enduring Promise, etc.). Sadly, The Last Sin Eater fails to keep up with this proud heritage.

Double trouble rules the day in this story of twin brothers who go separate ways in life.  One is trying to be ordained as a pastor, and the other is trying to pull a con on a violent con-man and his bumbling associate.  Mistaken Identity Syndrome hits, as usual in stories involving twins, as the good brother is mistaken for the bad one and vice versa.  Talk about culture shock–for both of them.

A novel by Trish Perry
It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed this much while reading a book. I sat down and picked up The Guy I’m Not Dating not really intending to read it, just thinking I’d glance over a few pages. Two hours later I’m still "glancing" over those pages and laughing enough to make my husband ask "What is so funny?" Later the same night, I turn the last page and had to declare, Loved it! "Loved, loved, loved it!"
