carole schutter

By Donald James Parker

Carole is a great inspiration to me.  She is living proof that dreams do come true–if we don't abandon them and if we are called according to God's purpose.  Here's her bio from the September Dawn movie website:  Carole Whang Schutter was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii. A widow, Carole has been a motivational speaker to live audiences as well as appearing on TV and radio shows. She now occupies her time writing novels, screenplays and inspirational books. “September Dawn,” which was written in collaboration with director/producer Christopher Cain, is her first screenplay. She has had an enduring interest in religion and has researched most of the major world religions. A skier and a hiker, she has found Aspen to be the perfect place for her interests and a wonderful place to write. Carole has just completed the novel based on the movie “September Dawn.” Currently, she is working on several screenplays and an historical novel about her home state Hawaii.

Our featured interview for this month involves a well known name in the world of Christian Entertainment–the last name anyway.  Dallas Jenkins is the son of Jerry Jenkins, one of the co-authors of Left Behind fame.  I believe his name is going become familiar to Christian movie-goers soon.  I hope to review Midnight Clear, his newest movie, in the near future and help do my part.

Larry Frenzel

By Donald James Parker

When my first novel was published, I decided to pursue having it made into a movie.  I contacted Sherwood Baptist Church who provided Larry Frenzel's name as a contact person.  I had not known of Larry or Carmel.  However, I knew that The Privileged Planet was one awesome film since I used it as material for my book.  After doing this interview, I am very optimistic that Larry and Chris are poised to do some wonderful things in engaging our culture via the film media.  And, I was blessed to hear Larry mention Frank Capra, one of my heroes.

Writer and Director Tim Chey

By Donald James Parker

I recently ran across an advertisement for a movie called The Genius Club and was immediately fascinated, to the point of emailing the Director (and Author).  Much to my surprise, I received a very warm email in return. A few days later, I came on board with The Christian Pulse and needed to interview someone in the film industry.  There was no doubt in my mind of who my first candidate would be.  The most impressive thing about Tim is that despite having been schooled at some of the most prestigious institutions, he is a nice guy!  Hope you enjoy him as much as I do.

Tim Chey’s Bio:

He was educated at Harvard University, USC Film School, and Boston University School of Law.  Chey's work has been seen on E! Entertainment, The Wall Street Journal, The LA Times, VIBE TV, MTV, Daily Variety, Hollywood Reporter, TNT, USA Networks, the Dove Awards, MovieGuide Awards, People Magazine, and the New York Times.
