Love. It’s all the rage in the month of February, with the chocolate and flower ads bombarding us from all directions. Ads try to convince men that if they really love their wife or girlfriend, buy her something. Preferably something shiny, or, at minimum, something she can share.

Yielding to One Another

As I was cleaning my desk, in hopes of wasting all my time instead of writing, I ran across some wedding invitations from this past year.  It reminds me of my wedding, a simple affair in the scheme of things, no more than fifty people at the ceremony with finger food right afterwards so that we could mingle and talk.  There was no receiving line, no formal dance, just us visiting with friends.

Recently, I spent an all-day workshop with Seth Godin in New York City.  Seth is the author of several books that include Permission Marketing, Purple Cow, Prize Inside and The Dip.  He is known for his contrarian wisdom – seeing things in new and innovative ways.  Thus the title Purple Cow.  Seth says brown, white or black cows don’t grab our attention – but a purple one would.  His challenge – what are you doing in your work or business that is remarkable – that would get attention?

Simplicity

Every year we seem to have the same thing happen; too much stuff, too little space.  It wasn’t so bad when we had six addresses in four years, we were always moving and evaluating and getting rid of whatever didn’t fit in a box, or in the truck we rented.  I was always amazed at the fact that no matter how long we lived somewhere there were at least six large garbage bags of stuff that was being thrown away.

A Messy Summer Meal

A special Summer Day celebration with my family was in order and they trusted me with picking the restaurant. They should have known better, because with my luck anything can happen, and usually does.
