“Coffee, tea or me”. What a great word description for the change that has occurred over the past fifty years. Written in 1967, this phrase was immortalized in a book by the same name. Since then mores, ethical behavior, and political correctness have been revolutionized, just as in the flight industry. What once was a glamorous position of stewardess is now described by the career-title, flight attendant, a sophisticated way of saying “jack of all trades.” Expected to serve meals, subdue terrorists, handle heart attacks, entertain babies, and placate irate passengers, they are not unlike our politicians of the day. All I can say is, we’ve come a long way baby.

I’m not much of a chef, although I have done some cooking. When I prepare meals on a regular basis I’m pretty good at it, but the task isn’t one I enjoy. I’m more of a fix-a-sandwich or throw-it-in-the-crock-pot kind of girl. Crock pot meals can be healthy and the convenience meets the demands of a busy schedule. When I place food in the ceramic pot, knowing in a few hours a mouth-watering meal will be served it reminds me of developing faith in God.

Part 1
I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 I was thinking about the goodness of God one day and just thanking Him for bringing me through the health issues that arose during my last pregnancy and how I was delivered of them right after my son was born this year. I then began to recall some of His promises and thinking about how some of them have come to pass and some have not. Did I miss something? Had I not fasted enough? Prayed enough? Interceded enough? I know that it is never God. God never misses it. I know that He is filled with integrity. He watches over His Word to perform it and exalts His Word even above His name. I have learned that I can put my complete trust in His Word.

Equipped with harnesses, ropes, and pulleys, the group embarked on their adventure. With chalk for hands and sheer guts for power, they ascended. The advanced group had one goal; to rock climb a cantilevered cliff. Being ‘blind’ as to where to place their hands, they had to rely on the guide to call out directions and encouragement. The climbers called this ‘vertical hiking’.
