When did a treat become the sixth food group? Or in my middle son’s case, the second food group, right after Fruity Pebbles and Pop Tarts. Oh, wait, those are treats also.
We recently returned from a wonderful vacation to southern California with extended family. After each ample meal, we would have dessert and then we would start passing treats around. The only word I can think of to describe myself is glutinous. As Christians, we want to take care of our bodies and not become glutinous pigs (like me). I remember as a child that a treat was a special thing reserved for holidays or something fun. Here are some ideas to help us make a treat a treat again:

“Weight Loss Tips” is the 42nd top keyword searched online today, and it stays in the top 500 most of the time. Why? Because almost everyone is concerned about their weight. I just keep it covered up with a couple layers of fat so it won’t get scratched.”
Life Waves
By Lisa Bell
The ocean waves crashed onto the beach. Small waves rushed in followed by larger ones that swelled and reached two or three feet in height. The little girl watched each wave as anticipation quivered through her body. She clung to her daddy’s hand and waited. When the wave came close, she stood still. Breathless with wonder, she waited and at the very last second before the wave engulfed her, she jumped. Then she did it all over again.
