I carry a small rock in my pocket, everywhere I go. It’s not a gemstone, a fossil, or precious metal, such as gold or silver. It’s just a common polished rock that has little to no monetary value. It is not a good luck charm or anything to do with superstition.

I can’t stop thinking about this year, especially after I looked back at some of the important stories for 2008. Take Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in California. He hosted a meeting with President-elect Barack Obama and with John McCain. This forum heighted the evangelical vote in a new way, at least for me. And when the Olympics aired from China in August, I read how tens of thousands of bilingual Bibles and New Testaments were printed for the Games.
