Like 1995?
On a recent trip to Houston, Texas, we traveled by the huge statue of Sam Houston on Interstate 45. My husband and I took the opportunity to explain to our six-year-old about the man depicted in the statue. Bruce explained a brief portion of Texas history and then I concluded with, “He lived a very long time ago,” to which my daughter responded “like 1995?” Ouch!

Standing on the beach, looking at the water on a calm day, all appeared peaceful and beautiful. Yet once I donned my snorkel and goggles and looked beneath the surface I saw an amazing transformation! Beneath the calm surface sea creatures darted about and a multitude of plant life grew!

Once again we are at a time in our country where serious thought needs to be given as to where we are and where we need to go from here.Even though our country was never completely Christian, it once had a Christian consensus. It was a cultural agreement to live by certain standards that were spelled out in a handbook for living called the Bible. Our culture began changing a few decades ago when a new spirit, a new way of thinking, entered our land.
