“Makeover”
By Ronnie Wyatt
A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience. Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?” God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."
Miraculously, the woman did recover and decided since she had “plenty of time” to live, she might as well do what she could to make herself look good while she was here. Upon recovery, she decided to stay in the hospital and have a facelift, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair color to the color she always wanted. Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it. After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was hit by an ambulance and killed! This took her immediately to the throne of God again. Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another 40 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?"
God replied, "Sorry, I didn't recognize you”.
It feels that way sometimes doesn’t it? Sometimes I wonder does God really recognize me. I mean, with all the struggles that I face, surely He must have forgotten all about me! The good news is that there is nothing that you or I can do to make God forget about us. One of my favorite verses in the Bible has God Himself saying, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands (Isaiah 49:15-16).”
Isn’t that an awesome thought? If you belong to God, He has your name inscribed on His hand! When I read that I remember times when I have been given a very important name or number and had no paper to write it down on. To make sure that I didn’t forget it, I would write it down on my hand. Isn’t it cool to think that God thinks you are so important that He wrote your name on His hand. The difference between God doing that and when I have done that is that I usually wash my hands and the name is gone, but look at what Jesus said.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one (John 10:27-30).” To me that is very comforting. No one can take my name nor me out of my heavenly Fathers hands as long as I have placed myself in the hands of Jesus!
Verse of the week:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28
