This is the story of a mountain climber who was determined to reach the summit of a high mountain. After years of preparation, he began his adventure. He made his ascent and climbed all day. As daylight faded, he decided to continue climbing. Before long, the night fell heavily and he was overcome by total darkness. The moonlight and starlight were hidden within the clouds giving him zero visibility. Yet, he continued to climb.

Insignificant. She looked at the two small coins in her hand and sighed deeply.

The Scribes milled about in the area. Their robes swelled like the sail of a ship in the breeze puffing out to match their chests. Some of these men spent much time at her humble home devouring any meager offering of food. Many of them approached the trumpet shaped treasury boxes and flung vast sums into the opening. Smugness etched their faces as they watched others contribute smaller amounts. One raised his eyebrows as a man cast in his offering.

I leaned forward against the patrol car as the officer read me the Miranda rights and clasped my wrists in handcuffs. I had never been in trouble with the law before.  Earlier that evening, I went to a company party at an upscale Silicon Valley restaurant. All day long I hadn’t eaten anything because of my hectic work schedule, and I was famished. When I arrived, my colleagues greeted me. “Grab yourself a drink, Bob.” While mingling with them, I gulped a couple of beers and munched on some savory clams and light appetizers. As the night progressed, I downed cognac, scotch, and some mixed drinks. Around ten o’clock, I left the party to go home.
