The Provision of God
By Ronnie Wyatt
An elderly lady was well-known for her faith and for her boldness in talking about it. She would stand on her front porch and shout "Praise The Lord!" Most people found this inspiring, but there happened to be an atheist that lived next door to her that didn’t like her proclamation of faith at all. Often times, he would respond to her shouts of “Praise The Lord,” with his own shout of, "There is no Lord! There is no God!"
One day, due to circumstances beyond her control, hard times set in on her. Even though she experienced the tough times, she continued to trust in God for her provision. One day she walked out on her porch and prayed for God to send her some assistance, "Praise The Lord! God I need food! I am having a hard time! My money is gone! Please Lord, send me some groceries!"
The next morning the lady went out on her porch and noted a large bag of groceries and shouted, "Praise The Lord! I knew that you would provide!" About that time the neighbor jumped from behind a bush and said, "Aha! I told you there was no God. I bought those groceries, your Lord didn't."
The lady started jumping up and down and clapping her hands and said, "Praise The Lord! Praise The Lord! You not only sent me groceries, but you made the devil pay for them! Praise the Lord!"
Are you struggling today? Are you worried about paying your bills? Is there a need in your life that you just don’t think can possibly be met? If so, are you trusting God? He is The Great Provider and He is the one that can meet your need!
Grab a hold of this promise from the word of God, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21).”
So, do you think that your need is too big to be met? Notice the Scope of God’s Provision. According to this promise, God is able to do immeasurably more than we can even ask or imagine. How big did you say that need was again?
Notice the Source of God’s Provision. This promise says that it is according to HIS power that is at work in you. It’s not according to your power, but HIS. Who did you say you are trusting in again?
What ever your need is today, God can provide! Of course there is a Stipulation to God’s Provision. 2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ” (NIV). The only stipulation to claiming the promise and provision of God is making sure that you have the proper relationship with Jesus. If you do have that relationship, then you need not worry, God has already made arrangements for all you need!
If you don’t have that relationship, then you are fighting your battle alone. Humble yourself. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Trust Him to meet all your eternal and temporal needs and wait to say, “Praise the Lord” when He provides!
Verse of the Week:
“For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” Heb 13:5
