New Beginnings

The thought of spending a Saturday morning at the beauty salon just isn’t my idea of pure excitement. However, this particular day my hair was in desperate need of some personal attention. As typical, the place was swamped mainly of elderly ladies getting their new doo for Sunday morning church. Since my hairstylist has the gift of multitasking, I waited in the chair while she helped another client. With rollers tightly fitted to my head, I managed to finally seat myself in a relaxed position.

As time pressed on, I decided to occupy myself by reading the information on the wall. I saw pictures of my hairstylist’s family, hair products, her license to practice, and then I saw it. There it was. In plain view, some much needed news I had been searching for. To my left was a prayer about new beginnings. The prayer said, “Lord, so far I haven’t sinnesd today. I haven’t cussed, gossiped, stolen or even worry about anything. Now, since I am just getting out of bed, I will need your help the rest of the day.”

I immediately laughed and thought to myself, if I stayed in bed, I would probably end up sinning through a dream. I think by now many of us know it is hard not to sin. Every day and night I say my prayers, and every day I have to ask for forgiveness.  However, some people have done things in the past that they wish they hadn’t done. Many people are so hard on themselves by allowing the past to haunt them. We don’t need to feel so out of touch when we have Jesus in our life. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” A new year is here and so is a new you! Start today by allowing Jesus Christ to come into your life and confessing your sins to him. God delights in those who are forgiven by him.  Another beautiful verse taken from the Holy Scripture is from 2 Timothy 4:18 “The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen! Forget the past and begin today by being the best you can in His glory.
