The Mop

After being warned a number of times about taking food and drink into the living room, little Davey flopped on the couch with his big glass of fruit punch. Hearing the door open, he became startled knowing he was in trouble, and accidentally spilled his fruit punch on the floor. After a good scolding he was ordered to clean up the mess himself. Dashing to the back porch to get the mop he suddenly realized it was dark outside! Davey, being very scared of the dark, became apprehensive about reaching out the door for the mop. His mother reminded him Jesus is everywhere–even in the dark. Davey thought for a minute. Then, putting his face to the door, he said, "Jesus, if you're out there, will you hand me the mop?"

I’m not quite sure that it works that way, but Jesus IS everywhere. Now, I imagine that can mean something different to those who are in different situations. For example, will Jesus be in your Christmas? Well, He will be whether you acknowledge Him or not. You may ignore Him, but He is there. Remember, He is ALWAYS there.

He is there in all phases of your life. Maybe you are living a life that consists of hiding your sinful acts away from everyone and getting a sense of accomplishment knowing that “no one knows,” then you are not as hidden as you think. Jesus knows.

Of course there is a beautiful flip side to knowing that Jesus is everywhere. Maybe you are sitting all alone right now and there is emptiness and churning in your heart because of what this life has done to you. Jesus knows and wants to give you strength. Maybe you are in a jail cell because of bad choices that you have made in your life. Jesus knows and wants to give you hope.

Maybe you are in a hospital bed and feel like there is no way you will ever experience comfort again. Jesus knows and wants to overwhelm you with His peace. Maybe you are in a Senior Home and feel abandoned. Jesus knows and wants to embrace you in His love. Maybe you are sitting there and feel as though you cannot escape from your life of failures and sin. Jesus knows and wants to cleanse you with His forgiveness. What is your need today? Jesus knows. Will you let Him help? Just simply humble yourself and talk to Him. He is right there where you are!

Verse Of The Week:
“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:15-16
