Who am I?

A man walks into a Doctor’s office and is greeted by the receptionist, “Hello Mr. Johnson. Just take a seat over in the lobby and the Doctor will be with you in just a few minutes..”

He makes his way to the lobby and sits down beside another gentleman and begins to thumb through a magazine. After a few moments the gentleman strikes up a conversation with him.

“So,” says the gentleman. “Are you from around here?”

“Oh, no,” says Mr. Johnson. “Actually, I am from Georgia.”

“Oh, really,” asks the man, “That’s neat. I’m from Georgia too. What part of Georgia are you from?”

“I am originally from Gaines, Georgia,” answers Mr. Johnson.

“Wow,” exclaimed the man. “I am originally from Gaines, Georgia, too. What High School did you go to?”

“I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, “ responded Mr. Johnson.

“Get out of here,” said the man with a puzzled look on his face. “I also went to Thomas Jefferson High School! What year did you graduate?”

Mr. Johnson replied, “I graduated in 1983 from Thomas Jefferson High School in Gaines, Georgia.”

With a shocked look on his face the man said, “This is really weird. I graduated in 1983 too! Where did you live?”

“My family and I lived at 123 Main St. in Gaines, Georgia,” said Mr. Johnson.

The man’s mouth dropped wide open! “This is too scary,” he said. “I grew up at 123 Main St. in Gaines, Georgia!”

About that time the receptionist’s phone rings and it is her husband on the other end of the line.

“How is your day going?” asks her husband.

“Oh, everything is going okay,” she says. “The Johnson twins are here and they are off their medication again.”

Sometimes we forget who we are don’t we? If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then you need to remember that your identity is in Him:

Ephesians 1:1 says that you are a “Saint.”
Colossians 2:10 says that you are “Complete.”
Romans 8:35-39 says that “Nothing can separate you from God’s love..”
Colossians 1:14 says that you are “Already forgiven of all of your sins.”
John 1:12 says that you are “A Child of God.”
Hebrews 4:16 says that you can “find grace and mercy from God whenever you need it.” Philippians 4:13 says that you “Can do all things through Christ that strengthens you.”

Your true identity can be found in your relationship with Jesus. Don’t let Satan steal your identity! Stand strong and hold onto the truth!

Verse of the week:

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:2-3
