You are in Gods Care

How strong is your faith? I never really knew the answer to that question until God decided to test my faith. A little over two years ago, I found out that I had a thyroid disease. It was nothing serious at first. All I had to do was take some medicine.
I went to the doctor in September of 2007, and the doctor told me I could no longer be on the medicine I was taking. He tested my thyroid levels and expected them to come back extremely high. The doctor told me that the only way to fix my thyroid problem would be to have surgery no later than December. My world was flipped upside down.
I immediately started praying that God would somehow heal my thyroid and I would not have to have surgery in December. My family, friends and church continued to bathe me in prayer. I received many letters of encouragement. One letter in particular really stood out to me. My best friend Kaitlin was reading an article and cut it out for me. At the top of the article it said, “The dark moments of our life will last only as long as necessary for God to accomplish His purpose in us.” Those powerful words stuck with me. My parents kept telling me that God had a purpose for all of this.
James 5:14 states, “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord." I went to the elders of my church, and they prayed over me and anointed me with oil. I cannot describe the overwhelming presence of God that I felt that day. From that point on, I knew God was going to stretch my faith to the very end like a rubber band, and at the very last moment He was going to heal me.
I went back to the doctor in October. After reviewing my lab results, the doctor came in with a puzzled look on his face, “when we met in September, I expected your levels to come back off the charts. Your levels are completely normal.” I smiled at my dad and looked toward the ceiling. I knew God was right there with me. “I am going to keep you on the medicine to keep you regulated, but surgery in December will not be necessary. Later down the road surgery might be needed, but nothing has to be done anytime soon.” My prayer was that I would not have to have surgery in December, and God answered my prayer. God tested me over those months, but I was never alone. He walked right by me the whole time and blessed me with wonderful supporters along the way.
