Finding Time for Relaxation

Whew! What a week I had this week! Monday was Bible study; Tuesday was Gwinnett Young Republicans, Wednesday, choir practice, and Thursday, lesson plans for school. The week seems to never end. When I try to go to sleep each night, I find myself thinking about all of the things I still need to complete. Needless to say, my sleeping habits have not been the best lately.  I’m sure many of you know all too well what I’m talking about.

It’s so easy to get stuck into the everyday rut and forget to keep the Lord first.  In fact, it is during busy times like these that I think back on the early days with my women’s Bible study.  I do admit that I wasn’t very interested in going when I first signed up because I had so much to do! My first few meetings seemed very strict and overwhelming. However, after awhile, I loved it and I started to feel more alive.  I have learned a lot and cannot wait to discover even more!

Many of you are like me and find yourself overwhelmed with life’s situations, but if we don’t find time to relax, we can easily become sick and distressed. There are so many ways to relax like listening to music, exercising, talking to friends, getting more sleep, yoga, and much more. In fact, even finding time to take deep breaths will help. For me, I find peace in my quiet time doing my Bible study. Just spending a few minutes praying and sharing His word immediately relaxes me. I will admit that many times I dread having to get into my car to go somewhere, but once I get there and the fun starts, I’m glad that I went and didn’t pass up the opportunity.

With the holiday season upon us, it may be difficult to relax.  And, it could be easy to get caught up in the rat race especially at this time of year.  But, remember to take time to get quiet with the Lord so you can experience a deeper peace that can only be found in Him.
