The Battle of Sin

The obituary stated, “No braver soldier ever went into battle when the War Between the States arrived at the Battlefield of Chickamauga under the powerful leadership of Fighting Joe Wheeler.” Wow! What wonderful words about my great, great Grandfather I read while looking though my family heirlooms. His continued story shared a chapter of his life where he faced numerous tribulations but rose to final victory. Even though I never met him, the description created a vision of glory, honor and respect.

While reminiscing about those dreadful times at war, it saddened me and I wondered how mankind could produce such wicked fruit. Shamefully, many have shed their blood for others in order to mend our corrupted world. For many, comprehending the purpose of war has never been easy, fair or completely natural. In addition, history has shown us that while one war is coming to a close, another seems to constantly be unfolding in the distance.

So, how did such a turbulent world become our reality?  Well, it all began in the Garden of Eden when we were separated from God. We were completely lost.  Yet, there was one who stepped up and fought the bravest battle of all so that we could be found. Christ was the only one who could pay the price for our sins.  He sacrificed himself unconditionally for us so that we could have victory over the enemy.  It is His blood that cleanses us of our sins so that we can be spiritually pure in the presence of God.

“Battle Hymn of the Republic”, has been called one of the best written and most beautiful songs of all time.  Julia Ward Howe, an abolitionist, expressed her feelings poetically using these words, “As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free. Glory, glory hallelujah, his truth is marching on.” Did you notice how these words depict His truth? Let these words fill your cup and spread his name for now and for future generations. He fought the Battle of Sin and won! Will you take a stand and follow Him? Our world of peace can start today when we enlist as Christians. As always, keep Jesus first as your ally then, He will be your strength and salvation so you can conquer evil and have victory over life’s battles.  Fight the good fight!
