What are you building

Today I was looking at an ad on television that was advertising yet another scheme of how to live more comfortably at home and have more luxuries in life. As I was watching this I thought to myself, “Here we go again, another ad about money.” Money,…what is so great about it anyway…Really???
What ever happened to values in life when money was not all that important? When you see people sitting around sharing stories in their lives, the moments that touched them, will you hear, “I remember the time that I had a pedicure and I painted my nails…” or will you hear, “I remember when I went to the nail salon with my grandmother. I miss her. We used to have a fun time together.”

What is the difference between the two scenarios? People, and not material things. One of my favorite channels is the food network. Why? Because I enjoy seeing and hearing the stories of tradition, values, how a family got started in a business, seeing a legacy passed on from generation to generation…But how do you expect to have these values and things to pass on when there is no concern of making anything anymore, as long as you are making money…What does that sound like! Maybe worship! Yes, I agree that it is important to make a living, but that’s the key words, “make-a-living!” What has happened to our generations?
If all we care about is money, then how can we “build” anything! Values, truth, priorities,…they have all become skewed in this world. What has happened to remembering people and doing something because you believe in it? You see a purpose in what you are making, how you are serving others, instead of just looking at, “how much do I get paid, or what will I get in return?” It is time to start turning the clock and look at a new way to build things and make money. To put values in their place, and share truth in people’s lives, even ourselves…
Truth is, if you are willing to do something that is completely against your values for money, then you have sold yourself, no matter the price. There is nothing wrong with making money because it is needed to go to the store, pay bills, etc. But, come on, …is that all you want out of life! To be able to go on vacation, or get an 8 karat ring, or get yourself all buffed up on the outside, spending thousands of dollars on things that will not make you truly happy…Isn’t that meaningless!!! (Ecclesiastes)
So, I challenge you and me to one thing,…make sure that what you are doing is something that you believe in and value…Don’t sell yourself out…You are worth far more than that, and if Christ gave Blood for you,…you are definitely not worthless! He did not sell you out, so don’t be sold to anyone else!
May this message be a blessing in your lives!
Be Blessed and Prosper!
