The Blind Man Saw

Here he comes! Here he comes! Look, it’s him! He’s the one who gives life, for he is our ultimate healer! Everybody look and don’t try and stop me from speaking the truth! I know because I believe! I know he’s the one who can restore this darkness that has eclipsed my sight! Father, Father, I give you my all; cleanse me of my sins for only you can save me and make me whole!

I can only imagine what a spectacle Bartimaeus must have created while sitting by the roadside awaiting this newcomer. Of course I don’t know all of the exact words he spoke, but I do know he expressed his words without hesitance. According to the Bible, Bartimaeus cried out, “Son of David, have mercy on me”.

Through the crowd, Jesus saw this beautiful seed that needed some tender loving care.  Being addressed as the “Son of David” was a first for Jesus, for up until this time, he had avoided being identified as the Messiah. Since he new his crucifixion was approaching, he took this opportunity to heal someone who showed a remarkable amount of true faith.

As a forerunner of faith, Bartemaeus teaches us that one doesn’t have to be blind in order to see. Because of his faith in Jesus, Bartemaeus’ sight was restored. The same can be said about us. Like Bartemaeus, Jesus will take care of you as long as you pray and keep the faith.

All of us will experience dark times in our lives. However, how long will you allow this darkness to erode you inside? Who will you turn to in those needed times? Remember, Jesus is your ultimate friend and even though he is all-knowing, he still yearns for your mercy. When your life is immersed in darkness, speak honestly and openly to Him. It’s amazing how it took a man who had a disability to show the world the power of faith.  Starting today – keep the connection alive through faith in Jesus.
