The Battle of Sin

The obituary stated, “No braver soldier ever went into battle when the War Between the States arrived at the Battlefield of Chickamauga under the powerful leadership of Fighting Joe Wheeler.” Wow! What wonderful words about my great, great Grandfather I read while deciphering though my family heirlooms. His continued story shared a chapter in his life as he faced numerous tribulations that rose through final victory. Even though I never met him, his inscription created a vision of glory, honor and respect.

While reminiscing about those dreadful times at war, it saddens me and I wonder how mankind could produce such wicked fruit. Shamefully, many have shed their blood for another in order to amend our corrupted world. For many, comprehending war has never been easy, fair or completely natural to understand. Even history has taught us that war only provides temporary setbacks while another is unfolding in the distance.

So, how did a turbulent world become so nebulous for the human mind? It all began in the Garden of Eden when we became separated from God. Yet, there was one person who fought the bravest battle of all, Jesus. Christ was the only one who sacrificed himself unconditionally by pouring out his blood for us. It was His blood that cleansed us of our sins so that we could be spiritually pure in the presence of God. Many will fight and save others but, if anybody ever deserved a Purple Heart medal, it would be our very own hero, Jesus.

“Battle Hymn of the Republic”, has been called one of the most well written and beautiful songs of our time.  Julia Ward Howe, an abolitionist, expressed her feelings poetically using these words, “As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free. Glory, glory hallelujah, his truth is marching on.” Did you notice how these words depict His truth? Let these words fill your cup and spread his name for now and for future generations. He fought the Battle of Sin. Will you fight with Him? Our world peace can start today by keeping ourselves enlisted as Christians. As always, keep Jesus first as your ally then, He will be your strength and salvation so you conquer evil and have victory over life’s battles.
