There Is None Good But God!

By Norma Vera –

Have you ever noticed how some things look so good in the dark? Like the
“Las Vegas Strip” for example, its eye-catching beauty lure men toward
it. Its outward extravagance is only a facade to conceal its inward
deception.

Many years ago my niece took me to the strip. It was early one spring
morning. The place looked like a ghost town. The dusty wind was blowing
tumbleweeds and trash down the famous Vegas Boulevard. The desert and
mountains looked dead and barren. I said to myself – This is Vegas?
Yuck!

Our carnal man has the same nature as Vegas. We love to shine and mimic
the world. We crave the limelight, and the praise of man, rather than the
favor of God. Our flesh yields and bents towards the darkness. It is our
nature to try to get away with as much unrighteousness as we possibly can,
without feeling condemned.  “After all we are human” or so we say, to
justify self.

Our flesh has a tendency to break rules, laws, and boundaries. We are
desperately sneaky, disobedient, and hate submitting to authority. Like a
glow in the dark ball, we can bounce aimlessly here and there and
everywhere without purpose, or self-control. Our outward appearance gives
a false glow that hides our inward charade. Until the sandy winds of our
rebellion, blow the tumbleweeds of our iniquities down our famous
“Cover-up Street.”

Our sin-filled hearts were barren and empty and our wicked nature
separates us from the God who made us. There was absolutely no hope for us
and Calvary seemed defeated as “The Christ” was laid in an empty tomb. We
were doomed for all eternity.

Suddenly the stone rolled away and the “Son of God” arose with healing in
his wings! Death hell and the grave could not keep Him bound. His
resurrection rained grace in abundance upon our barren lives until we
flourished like the rose. He poured His Spirit upon us and our wilderness
broke forth with streams of Life. Is.35: and our parched ground became a
pool and we the ransomed of the Lord returned and came to Zion with
singing, with an everlasting joy upon our heads. Grace and undeserved
mercy showered down from heaven, and the Light of Christ arose in our
obscurity and the weakness of man became the glorious power of our God!
Then we knew, “There is none good but GOD!”

What a special blessing to be reminded that the world’s glitter and glamour passes away, but God’s goodness and grace is from everlasting to everlasting.

I really liked this article. It clarifies an important truth about our lives & our need for a Savior.

Praise GOD!!! What could be a better gift than our Lord Jesus Christ dying for our sins so that we could be forgiven for them and be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

  6. Nina Medrano says:

What an awesome picture of our human fallen state before Christ (BC) called us out of darkeness and into His marvelous light!

  7. If where sins abounds, grace abounds all the more, then what cities do you suppose are most primed for revival? Perhaps Las Vegas, Toronto, Los Angeles, Hamilton, and Detroit, to name a few?

“Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.
“For behold, darkness will cover the earth
    And deep darkness the peoples;
But the LORD will rise upon you
And His glory will appear upon you.
“Nations will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.” (Isaiah 60:1-3)

God needs us to shine and glitter, not merely reflect. And cities like Vegas need us to speak life and love over it, not condemnation. Christ bought every inhabitant in that place, and He’s commanded us to bring them from darkness and into His light.

Amen! There is none good but God. He is redemption & He alone. You are so right when you say that we try & get away with as much as we can. We become like white washed tombs, polished on the outside, corrupt on the in. I don’t think your article brings condemnation, rather the reminder that without Him there is no light. Thanks Norma!
