Artist Spotlight: Surveil

Clark and Salina Beasley are not only husband and wife, but also the driving force behind Surveil.  From leading worship at churches to touring with Matt Redman, these two have had unbelievable opportunities to grow as artists and use their gifts to glorify God throughout the world.  Last year marked a major turn in their career with the release of their debut album, The World is Watching.  The songs are all originals with the exception of their own rendition of Prayer of St. Francis.  Their lyrics are unique and imaginative.  Surveil has the ability to capture the raw emotion of worship that transcends to the deeper meaning of the act.

“Keeper of My Soul” is a declaration of God’s continuous presence found in Psalm 121.  The repetition of scripture combined with the simple yet elegant arrangement creates a somber tone.  “[He] won’t let my foot slip, for you never sleep” evokes reflective thoughts of God’s faithfulness.  It is a comforting and important reminder that can easily slip away in the busyness of life.

Although Clark sings lead vocals on the majority of the album, Salina leads several songs, such as “Start A Revolution”.  This song is a cry out for action.  The beginning of the chorus, “start a revolution and let it begin in me”, serves as an anthem for all generations.  The rest of the lyrics are motivational about letting go and seeing the affect that one person can have on the world.

Overall, Surveil delivers an innovative album that resonates with passion.  It’s an eclectic arrangement of songs ranging from alternative rock to classical acoustic.  The songs are inspirational and thought provoking.
