When you think of a riddle, your mind may conjure images of puzzles, ancient prophecy, or something that is just hard to guess or figure out. Jeremy Riddle, however, is anything but hard to figure out. Worship leader, a pastor, committed husband, and father, Jeremy’s answers to the puzzling questions in life all come from the simplicity of trusting in God. This is evident in his music. With “Bless His Name,” “To Be Like You,” and “Christ is Risen”, Jeremy's faith, and pastoral learnedness add depth and other dimensions to his music.
Listening to Jeremy's Myspace Music page, you quickly begin to love his style and the effortlessness that he seems to exude. With 2007's album, “Full Attention”, and especially the track “Sweetly Broken”, Riddle began the fast track to greatness along the Christian music landscape. I was impressed to learn that Riddle started out with a successful mainstream band. However, because he was lacking peace and wanting to please God even further, he laid down any success he might have had in order to pursue God in the Christian realm. This too shows his dramatic faith and testifies to God's grace towards those who fear Him.
Jeremy's musical ambitions have resulted in the newer album “The Now and Not Yet”. This title is sort of a riddle, but not a hard one. And through each new track, despite style or musical leaning, Jeremy's powerful gospel message and heart for God can be heard. Who has the scholarly makings of a pastor with the compassion and heart of an alternative musician? Answer: Jeremy Riddle.
