Book Review: Generation G – Advice for Savvy Grandmothers Who Will Never Grow Gray

As a savvy grammie to 10 grandchildren, I thoroughly enjoyed Generation G. There were so many “ah, ha” moments when I felt like I was sitting down with a cup of coffee comparing grandma experiences with Marty.

This little book can be a quick read in one sitting, read as a devotional, or just enjoyed chapter by chapter. Marty speaks the language of the baby boomer grandmas who are not their mother’s grandma. Times have changed, and so many of us still have careers and very active lives while we balance time and energy with very active grandchildren and our own children who have some how grown up to be parents themselves. And many like Marty, are sandwiched between children and aging parents. Marty will provide you with a perspective on what a sweet and wonderfully fulfilling position that can be as she encourages: “Grandmothers are up to the task. We are the best-kept secret since sliced bread.”

We are a blended family, so I especially appreciated the chapter on step-grandparenting, and Marty’s suggestions on dealing with the “in-law” grandparents. Marty really does cover every aspect and emotion of being a grandparent who leaves a legacy of love for her family and God.

This book would make a great gift for any grandmother, or pick one up for yourself—you deserve it!
