Book Review: Forsaken

Taylor Pasbury, a security specialist, is hired by Simon Mason after he receives terroristic threats. Simon is a world famous evangelist and Taylor is a former Secret Service agent with a spotted record. Immediately, Taylor becomes Simon’s greatest confidant in the most difficult time of his life.

Forsaken is a dynamic book with multi-faceted characters and realistic settings. Mr. Jordan has a large ensemble of characters and action, but his laid-back writing style makes this an easy read. You won’t be flipping back pages to see what you missed. There are action scenes, but they aren’t overwritten. They make their point without gore.

I did find myself wondering about this instant bond relationship between Taylor and Simon. It seemed odd he would welcome her into his home and family in such a casual manor. Of course, after reading the entire book, I understood why. Also, there were a couple of minor characters that made me wonder what they were up to. I would like to have known their motives a bit more. Maybe my cynical brain was over thinking, which is never a good idea. If you’re like me and read the last sentence of the book before you get too far into the book, you’ll be thoroughly confused. It won’t help you put the plot together. For this, I give kudos to Mr. Jordan.

Overall, I liked this book. There was great action that didn’t overwhelm, a realistic storyline that was easy to follow, and settings I could identify with. I definitely recommend this book.
