You know how some music brings excitement and joy for being in Christ's family? Blake Goss makes that music. Strong lyrics, Blake's heartfelt voice, and good instrumental backing make his music every bit as good as the "big name" artists that every one has heard about.
Blake has been singing worship music from his guitar since 1999, when he learned to play to add to his private time with God. And as worshiping God usually does, it drew him in until he couldn't get away. From youth groups, to his band "Thief on the Right," to training others in guitar and worship; it seems God got a hold of Blake.
"King of Heaven / Still your passion is me / Who am I to even speak Your name? / It is hard to believe He is here" goes his song "He is Here." This song paints in my mind the picture of being in a cathedral, with light coming down from the ceiling, feeling small and out of place… but knowing the Author of the Galaxy has no goal other than my salvation and love.
"See Into Me" is a call to God to come into the singer's soul, to break down the walls, to just walk through the open door of his heart and take what has always been His. This and Blake's other songs reminds me of Romans 14:7-9 "For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living." (NIV)
If Blake keeps true, honest music like this coming, giving praise to God – maybe everyone will hear about him next.
