39 STRIPES is a Christian modern rock band that originated in Florida in 1998 and also has members living in North Carolina. The band has been featured on national television, Christian and secular radio and in music magazines.
The word “incredible” definitely describes the band 39 STRIPES and it’s also a song on the band’s 2004 release: Burn. The band’s members are: Mike Wilson (lead vocals, acoustic guitars), Steve Henderlong (lead & rhythm guitars), Joe Costa (drums, percussion) and Ray Schurr (bass guitar).
According to the band’s official website, 39 STRIPES is currently in the studio recording their new CD which should be released by summer 2008. The band's new CD will feature Mike Wilson on lead vocals and will be a much bigger sounding recording than the ones previously released. More Rock! More Vocals! More Guitars! More Drums…Less Bass (Just kidding Ray).
39 Stripes official mission statement entails the heart and the soul of the band: The purpose of 39 STRIPES is to uplift and edify the Christian believer and to share God's love with the lost through contemporary Christian music. We have a responsibility to make sure our lyrics are not just words but have a life-changing message. Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in both the streets and auditoriums, 39 STRIPES strives to be a positive influence for the youth continually reassuring them that God believes in them and has a plan for their lives. Whether ministering for the few or the many, it is an honor and a blessing to share in the difference Jesus can make.
