Artist Spotlight: Deidra Hughes

Residing in Nashville, Tennessee is a talented singer and an ever more amazing woman of God: Deidra Hughes. She has already accomplished so much in her life for the cause of Christ and her passion for not just music but sharing the gospel is evident just by listening to her music and reading about her testimony.
Deidra was raised by parents who loved the Lord and had a talent for music themselves. It is no wonder that she pursued music as a ministry in her life and it has taken her to so many places all over the globe as well as working alongside some great Christian singers such as Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Natalie Grant. She also was involved in the popular Christian group TRUTH and the time she spent with them gave her not just an opportunity to fulfill God’s will for her life but for her to go overseas and perform over 300 concerts a year.
But singing is not all she has done for the work of the Lord. She and her husband, Trent, have spent time as youth pastors and Deidra also working as a worship leader in a local church. This has instilled a passion and desire for her to work with youth and families and for her to make an impact in the next generation’s lives for the Kingdom of God.
Her 2008 debut, self-titled CD features great worship songs such as “Lord, You’re Holy,” “Everlasting God,” and “In Christ Alone;” as well as some popular contemporary-Christian songs such as “God Is In Control,” and “Alabaster Box.” Her voice is penetrating and will stir any soul with not just her beautiful range but the words she sings as she conveys the truth that only comes from God. The arrangements are fit nicely and bring out the best in her; but even more important than that, you can feel as you listen to her that she means what she is singing with all of her heart. These are not just empty words but they change lives and she has lived that in her life as well.
