What is an “Epic Rescue?  In a “brainstorming frenzy” this former-rock worship group consisting of Brandon Self on vocals, lead guitarist Tyler Azevedo, bassist Justin Swinney, and Natalie Noblitt on vocals formed the nucleus of the unnamed band. By adding Josh Hoggord on drums, keyboardist Matt Gregg and rhythm guitarist Leland Wetzel, they thought, “Had there been a rescue as epic as the rescue on the cross?”  The simple question spawned an idea, a discussion and eventually a name. For it was with that concept that the Texas-bred septet realized their title: Epic Rescue.

Epic Rescue is a fusion of various styles of modern day music. Hip-hop, grunge and rock meshes into a sound that is uniquely their own. “Give or Take” is their new song online and it's an infusion of funky beats layered with hip-hop style lyrics. It’s a non-stop lyrical ride that points the listener to the cross of Christ where they can find hope instead of despair.

A worship band should take the audience to a special place where the worshiper can encounter the presence of Christ. “We Wait On You” slows down the pace for an intimate and reflective time of worship. After the hustle and bustle of life itself, we need a place where we can be calm and enjoy the presence of the Lord.

Nothing is more important to Epic Rescue than bringing people closer to Christ, which is the focal point of every member in the band. “It’s really humbling to think that the God who said  'Let there be light' is working on people’s heart right in front of you, it’s just amazing!” proclaims lead guitarist Tyler Azevedo.
