A Walk Across Egypt

Have you noticed that some of the all-time best movies are practically unknown? When I go to a video store, I like to take the time to find the one-of-a-kind movies, those that the store only has a single copy for rent. These are the ones that never appeared in the theater or had a very short run and now they're in a box on a shelf at the video store.
One of my top five favorites is a movie called A Walk Across Egypt with Ellen Burstyn. I had never seen many movies with this actress, so I don't really know why I picked it up but, I am so glad I did. The title is misleading, having nothing to do with Egypt. The story is about a widow and a young man in reform school. It is such a wonderful movie in every way. The cast is spectacular, though comprised of actors and actresses that you don't see very often, but each one was great and perfect for their role in this family friendly movie.
After renting the video, my family enjoyed it so much I purchased a copy and have shown it to many friends and family members. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it. This movie is not only fun but, it has a truly enjoyable plot and teaches some wonderful lessons involving loving unconditionally, forgiving others as you would be like to be forgiven, keeping no record of wrongs, and others that are easy for the viewer to pick up on.
If you can tolerate the word damn and a few "s" words, this is a movie for everyone. I felt the language was appropriate for a young man in reform school. Many other movies would have used that as an opportunity for streams of vulgar, filthy language. All, and I mean all, the actors in this movie gave academy-award class performances.
This is a must-see for families and those who prefer G, PG or the occasional R rated movies which don’t contain the violence, blood, gore, vulgar language, profanity and totally unnecessary sexual content of most restricted movies. Walk Across Egypt is hard to find but, will be worth every minute of time and effort you put into locating this gem. It is one flick you can feel secure about showing to friends and family and knowing they will leave content, having seen a great feel-good movie.
