CD/Song Compilation – Breaking the Silence Genre: Rock By Julie Hess |
The Trust Project is a new three-piece band out of Texas that rocks hard. Despite the more modern, post-grunge sound of Breaking the Silence, the young band interestingly cites Petra and Stryper among its influences. |
The band originally formed in early 2005 with bassist and vocalist Tim Parady, Brother Bryan on drums and guitarist/vocalist Tammy Parady rounding out the group. They first started performing live in May 2006. Recently, lead guitarist Cameron Hawkins left to go back to school and pursue the business aspect of music. The EP is a positive, soul-searching, and straight forward experience although not syrupy as some Christian bands can have a tendency to be. Furthermore, they are not afraid to take on controversial topics such as suicide on the song “Screaming Silence”. Most of their songs deal with hitting the bottom and searching for God when at the end of one’s rope. I do have to give props to Tim’s voice. In a time when male singers of newer bands tend to be whiney, this guy comes through with vocals that remind me of The Prayer Chain’s Tim Taber. Some of the lyrics are a little predictable such as the ones in “Push Me Down”. However, the arrangements are power pop/rock at its finest.
