The Destination

You know the stereotypes about men and women and how they travel. Men just want to get there and women want to enjoy the journey.
My husband and I are just the opposite. Randy wants to stop at every rest area, historical marker, and little town store. When we first met, I enjoyed the belief that the goal was to get there and THEN sightsee. I am happy to report that I have been trained. It didn’t happen overnight, but eventually, I learned it is more fun to enjoy the journey. You’ve probably heard the quote, “Success is not a destination, it’s a journey.” I propose that Christmas is not the destination; it is the journey. Take time to enjoy every aspect of preparation. Take time to make room in your already crowded life for a miracle to happen. God spent many hundreds of years preparing His people for this miracle. He wanted them to be ready with their lives and ready in their hearts.
The first chapter of John is as relevant today as it was to the Hebrews: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God…through Him all things were made…He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him… ”
Then the most powerful words ever spoken, the greatest miracle that could have ever been conceived happened—”The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” How beautiful. How miraculous. God had this planned from the beginning of the world, but He took the time to prepare His people. They, and we, needed time to prepare. Time to realize we need a Savior. Take time today to make room, make way, and make preparations for this miracle.
PRAYER: Thank You, God for Your miraculous gift and for giving me time to prepare for Your arrival. Help me make more room in my life so I might make the way smoother for others to meet You through me.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. The Word was with God in the beginning. All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. And the light shines on in the darkness but the darkness has not mastered it,” John 1: 1-5 NET.
