Spiritual Creatures on a Physical Journey

Most people don’t think much past what they can see—especially if it’s bills to pay or the car ahead of them. But if asked, they might agree that they’re physical creatures who may or may not be on a spiritual journey.
God created us in His image, and the Gospel of John tells us that His essential nature is “spirit” (4:24). Do we misunderstand who we are—even what we are? What if we see as God sees? Could it be that, in our deepest nature as God created us, we’re not physical but spiritual? That would make us spiritual creatures who are on a physical journey.
Think about that in your own life. Seriously, stop everything for just one full minute and think about being a spiritual creature who happens to be on a physical journey.
No, I mean it. I know it’s hard to stop everything for just one minute. But try it. You’ll be surprised at how hard, yet how beneficial, it can be.
What if you developed a habit of doing this every day? Do it enough and it could profoundly influence your whole approach to life. It will change your life’s journey—which will change your eternity.
PRAYER: Lord, help me always remember who I am—a spiritual creature on a physical journey. My life on earth is temporary; my heavenly home is eternal. Lead me to live my life with this in my heart.
“God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them,” Genesis 2:27 NET.
