Faith Not Fear

Faith not fear….In times of adversity, I have found that faith has always worked best.  If you listen to the lies of the enemy and believe what you hear, then fear enters in your mind in a big way. Things such as “You’re not smart enough, you’re not attractive enough, you will never get ahead, your dreams will never come true. . .” and so on.

We must believe what God’s Word says about us, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made [Psalm 139:14 NIV]. For every lie of the enemy, there is a truth in Christ. God loves us unconditionally. He wants to guide us through life’s experiences with confidence in Him. He will see us through it with peace in our hearts. We must be willing to be changed, to be used, and be obedient.

Have enough faith (you only need as much as a mustard seed [Matthew 17:20 NIV] to pursue your dreams and live your life without fear. Things will happen, that is life, but we serve a God who with one touch can change our situation around.  He never leaves us and will be with us through all of our storms.

In my life, like anyone else’s, there have been several storms. And although, I may have not felt it at the time, I can look back and see how God got me through it all. My mother’s death at age twelve, overcoming drug addiction, losing my job, being mistreated and abused, mentally and physically, by past boyfriends, my insecurities with my weight, and being single for so long when everyone around me seems to be getting married.  No, it hasn’t been fun, but I know that the joy of the Lord is my strength. And through all of these things, God has held my hand and been the lifter of my head [Psalm 3:3 KJV]. And at times, He has had to carry me when I couldn’t move emotionally, mentally, or spiritually on my own.

I am reminded of this scripture when my faith seems to be shaken a bit. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that comes to God must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

I want to aim to please my Father in heaven who cares about me and the things I care about. I know that when I diligently seek Him, I will be rewarded in every area of my life: spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially, and in relationships.  The rewards will be greater than any pain I may have gone through.

Remember, He gives us double for our trouble.  So work in faith instead of fear, and sit back and enjoy all that God does in your life.

Your wrote a wonderful devotional. I see the pain you must have suffered in the past, and I see your faith in God coming through in your writing.
