Finding My Purpose Through Small Steps

Do you ever find yourself asking, “What is my purpose?” Take joy in knowing God created each of us to be His Designer Originals. In other words He created you and me for a very specific purpose. He has a plan for us yet we so often choose to live life according to our own agenda.  The journey to discovering His divine purpose for our life begins simply by focusing on the small steps He asks us to take each day. Our purpose is not some vast mystery that God delights in keeping a secret.

Our purpose becomes obvious to us when we are faithful in our walk.  These small steps lead us to a more faithful walk: keeping our priorities in order, having a quiet time with God each day, showing unconditional love to others, having spiritual accountability, and being a witness to others.

By taking these steps, we are more deeply connected to God and our purpose and predetermined destiny becomes easier to see.  Unfortunately, most of us end up being unfulfilled, oversensitive, judgmental, frustrated, and insecure because we want God to give us the plan before we agree to participate. We want to skip the small steps of faithfulness and jump right to the big plan. These small steps seem so insignificant that we don’t bother to participate in them.

When we try and force life to happen our way we take away the supernatural power of an all-knowing God who wrote the master plan for our life. He knows exactly how our life intricately weaves itself into a beautiful story that brings Him ultimate glory here on earth!

Many of us want to do God’s will but we don’t always want to do our part. Why does God ask us to participate in the small steps? Simple: if we are not faithful in the small steps of our walk, we can’t handle the bigger plan for our life.

PRAYER: God, help me keep my spiritual sneakers on the path You’ve designed for me even when I’m confused about the path I should be taking.

“Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling (purpose), not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began”  (2 Timothy 1:9 KJV).
