Childlike Faith

Mr. Book was at the public library yesterday. Mr. Book is not a human, but rather a robot of a friendly book. Two-year old Wesley approached Mr. Book tentatively, and was greeted with “Hi, what’s YOUR name?” With daddy’s help, Wesley gave his name, and said that he was two years old. They had a sweet discussion, during which time Wesley stared in utter amazement at the creature before him. He left with excitement for picking up some books to take home and “read.” What Wesley didn’t know was that there was a kind gentleman positioned in another part of the room with a headset. He spoke to each young child as they entered the library. He made their visit a personal, individual, experience. Some walked away skeptical, others were afraid, but most were thrilled.
The Bible says we are to have childlike faith. We need to approach God, and know that He IS, without having to know how He works, or why He speaks to us so personally. Just like Mr. Book was not limited to the robotic box shaped book, our God cannot be placed in a box. We will never be able to figure Him out, because His ways are not our ways.
When we pray, Who do we envision? Some think of a grandfatherly Santa Claus figure in the clouds. Others think of a judge garbed in a black robe. Some think of Jesus with children on His lap or speaking to the multitudes from a boat. There are those who see Jesus still on the cross, although we realize He is no longer suffering. The great thing is, we do not have to all share the same experience when we pray. But we all must come with the faith of a child. A faith that does not waver. Faith is believing in what we cannot see. Trust.
Just like the readers in the library, some will walk away skeptical, others will be afraid, but most will know a thrill that cannot be explained with mortal words.
Mr. Book wanted to inspire young readers to desire to be voracious readers. Our God desires us to be avid, insatiable, readers of THE book.
AUTHOR QUOTE: Will you come to Him today, in faith, believing that He IS?
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him,” Hebrews 11:6 KJV.

Kathy, this is good start to finish. Great analogy! And so true. How I desire that childlike faith for me and for mine.
