God’s Billboard Company

I love to read billboards. Of course, there are some vulgar and inappropriate things on some and I have to quickly avert my eyes. But for the most part, I find a lot to think about on these giant-sized commercials.
A few anonymous Christian businessmen banded together several years ago to create the now famous God sayings on billboards across America. Some of my favorites are Let’s meet at MY house Sunday before the game; That Love Thy Neighbor thing…I meant that; and Have you read My #1 best seller? There will be a test.
Did you know God invented billboards? He sure did!
Deuteronomy is where the instructions were given for the first sanctuary on Mount Gerizim near the refuge city of Shechem. Later, the Samaritans would rebuild a sanctuary there to their God, and Jesus would tell the woman at the well that He was that God. He must have really wanted His people to make His instructions clear so all would see and be reminded, and not be able to dismiss what His words said. Likewise, God’s words need to become so familiar to us they become like a billboard in our souls.
PRAYER: Lord, I praise You for bringing me out of difficult situations and into a land flowing with milk and honey. I ask You to help me make Your words and promises like a billboard in my heart so I will always be reminded and not able to dismiss Your greatness.
“So when you cross the Jordan you must erect on Mount Ebal these stones about which I am commanding you today, and you must cover them with plaster,” Deuteronomy 27:4 NET.
