Supermans Cape

When growing up I loved to watch Clark Kent turn into Superman. He was a shy, normal, everyday guy until he put on that cape and the superman clothes. Then he’d step out of the telephone booth as a new man- bold, certain, and… well …Superman! The clothes gave him cover to become someone he could not be otherwise. He was proud and confident when clothed in garments that made him a new person.

As God's chosen people, we are holy (set apart) and loved. Because we are set apart, we are to clothe ourselves in a different manner than those around us. When we get up each morning, we need to put on the garments of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. This implies we don't wake up with these clothes already on. We must choose to put them on each day. Then, while wearing these special clothes, we must choose to bear with one another and forgive grievances.

This is a tall order, but the good news is that just like Superman's cape, these clothes come with the power, His power, to help us do these mighty things. Jesus Christ is the Superman within each of us.

PRAYER: Thank you God for choosing me to be one of your children, set apart to do mighty things in Your name. Help me to put on the garments You’ve given me so I might walk proudly and humbly as a child of the King.

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
Colossians 3:12-13 KJV.
