Cat Goes To Heaven

One day, a cat dies of natural causes and goes to heaven, where he meets the Lord Himself.  The Lord says to the cat, "I am so glad to have you here, and if there is any way I can make your stay in heaven more comfortable, please let me know.”  The cat thinks for a moment and says, "Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor.”  The Lord stops the cat and says, "Say no more”, and a wonderful, fluffy pillow appears.

A few days later, six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident, and all of them go to heaven.  Again, the Lord is there to greet them with the same offer.  The mice answer, "All our lives we have been chased.  We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms.  Running, running, running; we're tired of running.  Do you think we could have roller skates so that we don't have to run anymore?”  The Lord says, "Say no more" and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates.

About a week later, the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him snoozing on the pillow.  The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, "How are things since you got here?”  The cat stretches and yawns, then replies, "It is wonderful here.  Better than I could have ever expected.  And those 'Meals On Wheels' you've been sending by are the best!"

Have you ever wondered what Eternity with God will be like?  God’s Word gives us a little peak, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them.  They will be his people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.  He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."  He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!”  Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”  (Revelation 21:3-5)

Isn’t it comforting to know that one day all things will be new?  Isn’t it comforting to know that one day there will be no more death, no more pain, and no more mourning?  Isn’t it comforting to know that one day you can stand with God and He will wipe away all your tears?  I guess the best question to ask is, “Do you have that comfort?”

While spending an eternity with God is a comforting thought, unfortunately everyone will not have that opportunity.  Remember the words of Jesus, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).Notice the key word, “THE” in this verse.  Jesus said, “I am THE way.”  There is no other way to experience the eternal comfort of God, but by coming through Jesus.  He said, “I am THE truth.”  There is no other truth.  Any other option other than Jesus is a lie.  He said, “I am THE life.”  Only Jesus can guarantee a life eternally with God.

No one will ever experience the true comfort of the Father unless the Son takes them by the hand and takes them there.  Have you placed all your trust, hope, and faith in Jesus as your personal friend and Savior?  Have you allowed Him to be the Lord of your life?  Please do it today because we are not promised tomorrow!

Verse of the week: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived  what God has prepared for those who love him"     1 Corinthians 2:9
