There once was a very rich man that was known for being very eccentric. So, just for kicks he decided to throw a huge party and invite all of his other rich friends. Once they all got there he told them of a challenge that he dared them to fulfill. Taking his guest out to the pool he explained his challenge. They were shocked to see that he had filled his pool with flesh eating piranhas!
He said, “I will give any man $10,000 if he dares to swim in this piranha filled pool from one end to the other.” Surprisingly to him, no one took the offer.
"Ok,” said the man. “I’ll give any man $10,000 and a brand new car if he dares to swim in this piranha filled pool from one end to the other." Still no one took the offer.
"Ok,“ smiled the man. “I will give any man $10,000, a brand new car and the hand of my beautiful daughter in marriage if he dares to swim in this piranha filled pool from one end to the other.”
About that time a huge splash was heard. To everyone’s amazement, a young man was swimming with all his might across the pool! You could hear the piranha snapping at him the whole way. In no time he made it to the other side of the pool and jumped out in front of the rich man.
The rich man, tickled with the man’s willingness to do such a crazy thing, shook the man's hand and asked, "What was it son? Was it the money that made you do this?"
Doing his best to grab his breath the young man said, “No, I don’t want your money.”
“Well,” said the rich man. “Was it the new car you wanted?”
“No,” gasped the swimmer.
“Let me guess,” said the rich man. “It was my daughter wasn’t it?”
“No,” replied the young man as he looked at his wounds.
“Well,” said the rich man. “What is it? What do you want?”
To which the swimmer replied, “All I want to know is… who pushed me in!”
Life feels that way sometimes doesn’t it? Like someone has pushed you into a pool of piranhas. It seems that everywhere you go somebody or something is trying to rip you to shreds!
God gives us a wonderful promise during those times. “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Go back and read that verse again and this time notice who will see you through your tough time. Did you see it? God said, “Fear not, for I am with you.” So, you do not need to be afraid because you are not alone. He said, “Be not dismayed, for I am your God.” So, you do not need to feel overwhelmed because He is with you. Do you need someone to “strengthen, help and uphold” you? Trust in Jesus, and God the Father will give you all you need to make it through to the other side of your piranha pool.
Verse of the week:
"..God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” 1 Peter 5:5-7
